Welcome to Keoxa - Acknowledging Indigenous Cultures
November is Native American Heritage month - a time that reminds us to reflect on not only the contributions of Indigenous cultures to stewarding and protecting the natural world, but also on the deeply horrific history of treatment towards Indigenous people as white settlers came to this land.
Acknowledging and learning are important pieces to standing in solidarity with Indigenous communities. So much culture and history was lost as Indigenous communities were forced to relocate - but there are still many strong Indigenous communities around us and countless ways to respectfully learn about their heritage and the contributions throughout history. Check out this month’s blog article from Sydney, where she discusses a handful of resources to help you get started in learning more about the cultures native to Keoxa (Winona) and Mnisota (Minnesota).

This month, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Patti McCarthy talks about her journey through a breast cancer diagnosis and how time spent in nature helped her reclaim the parts of herself that slipped away when faced with a medical crisis.
